Summer Escape – New ” Must Visit” restaurants in Sarasota

Sarasota consistently ranks among the top “small city” destinations and one of the top Florida cities for healthy dining. Being in real estate, I see people relocating to our region for all kinds of reasons. I’ve learned that acclaimed restaurants ranks high on the list for new residents.

Restaurant Scene

The thriving restaurant scene in Sarasota offers unparalleled dining from casual beachfront fare to fine dining – making it one of the top-tier places in Florida to visit for some incredible food. The vast range of cuisine offers diverse, satisfying menus.  Some new restaurants draw residents and visitors alike with delightful, sustainable seafood and locally-sourced produce prepared by award-winning chefs. Sophisticated wine collections add to the appeal.

Kojo Sarasota

A great addition to the dining scene in downtown Sarasota, and the newest hot spot, Kojo is owned by the same group as Speaks Clam Bar at St. Armand’s and Lakewood Ranch. Kojo features a large, open inside dining area along with tables outside along Palm Ave. The restaurant provides a great atmosphere and offers a remarkably diverse menu of Asian fusion dishes such as sushi, tacos, and more.  And when you visit, be sure to say hi to the adorable hostess named Alex…my daughter!

Lily Café

The owner of Jane’s Café in Naples branched out and will spoil diners with classic breakfast dishes such as egg benedict and stuffed French toast. George Wood’s desire is to create an enjoyable, light, and HAPPY restaurant in Sarasota. Growing up in his parents restaurants in Naples for many years he wishes to bring the best experience for breakfast and lunch. This is an ideal place to enjoy a leisurely breakfast, a lazy brunch or a lunch with friends.

Georgie’s Garden Café

Like the Lily Café, Georgie’s Garden Café will offer an upscale, casual setting that serves classic and creative breakfast and lunch dishes. This all-day brunch spot, near the UTC mall, also offers healthy vegan options that pair well with their specialty coffee drinks. In the evenings, you can enjoy live music at the adjacent bar – George – that provides a satisfying ambiance with a limited menu.

Ford’s Garage

Another fun dining spot to be found in the growing University Town Center is Ford’s Garage. Being greeted by the prominent vintage Ford you are ushered into a by-gone era. The original location opened in 2012 in Fort Myers less than a mile from Henry Ford’s winter residence. Enjoy a gourmet burger bar with the finest meat and vegetarian products topped with aged cheeses and fresh toppings. Additional options include American comfort food entrees and fresh salads, grilled chicken, and fish. Be sure to call ahead in order to avoid waiting in the long lines!

Cooper’s Hawk

Don’t miss the opening of this one-of-a-kind, modern dining spot, which offers a warm and inviting culinary experience combined with its proprietary winery. Enjoy an infused menu with flavors from around the world. Each dish is made from scratch with season ingredients and paired with a selection of wine to match. Check out the in-house wine club.
